Peyto: A Side Table Redefined

Revolutionizing Furniture Design with Kamyar Ahmadi Azari's Peyto

Introducing Peyto, a side table that challenges the norms of furniture design. Created by Kamyar Ahmadi Azari, this innovative piece combines form, function, and aesthetics, resulting in a unique addition to any living space.

Designing a side table that enhances lightness and portability was the challenge that Azari set out to conquer. The result is Peyto, a table that not only sits beside furniture but integrates within it. This innovative design approach required a unique solution for the transfer of forces to the ground, resulting in a product that is as beautiful as it is functional.

Peyto stands out from other side tables due to its beautifully decorated appearance, unique shape, and statics. The lightness of the design, combined with its concave form, allows the user to pull the table into their space, making it more accessible and comfortable. This design also saves space as Peyto seamlessly integrates with the sofa.

The Peyto side table was designed using Rhino software and the Grasshopper plugin, with a focus on ergonomic considerations. The table is made from pine wood, chosen for its ability to create fluid forms and its lightweight properties. A 5-axis CNC machine was used to cut the pine wood into the desired form, with an inner pine wood structure added for additional strength.

The Peyto side table measures 560mm by 365mm, with two different heights available to accommodate different bench sizes. For safe transportation, Peyto is packed in a plywood box with 8mm thickness. The table's design tags include "Side table," "Sculpture table," "Bionic design," "Ergonomic table," and "Elliptical furniture."

The design of Peyto was influenced by the desire to improve the quality of people's lives through furniture design. The use of traditional materials, such as wood, in a modern format promotes a harmonious link between technology and quality of life. The table's ability to move and synchronize with various furniture pieces is a testament to its lightweight design and versatility.

The Peyto project began in February 2017 and was completed in December 2017 in Mashhad. It was exhibited in the Choobsang showroom in January 2018. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Furniture Design Award in 2019, a testament to its innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship.
